Why we will never post a before and after picture

New Year means PTs & Gyms are back at it with posting “transformational” before and after pictures.

This form of marketing selling you that you are not good enough as you are an need to do their programme to get and ‘after’.

This is something we have been so passionate about for years.

Transformational photos are so common in the fitness industry, social media is full of them and they really do our head in.

Majority of the before and after pictures out there are trying to sell you the latest diet, an unrealistic challenge, a shake or a ‘system’.

Results are so much more than how we look, results are how we feel and how much energy we have!

PLUS who’s to say the girl in the after picture feels happier? Chances are she feels pretty bloody crap because she’s highly likely been undereating and over exercising just to get the ‘after’ picture.

Only to then be unable to stick to the reduced calories and rigid exercise programme that shortly after that after shot is taken she back to the before… feeling crappy again.

We are here to tell you that you need to take these photos with a grain of salt and that 90% of them are total BS!

This is the classic…

Before

  • ‘I’m so upset’ look across face

  • Slouched over

  • No make up

  • No tan

  • Dark room

  • Not flexing

  • Not sucking in

After

  • ‘I’m so happy’

  • Fake tan

  • Make up

  • Standing tall

  • Professional lighting

  • Photoshop

  • Sucking in

  • Flexing hard!

Here's the thing...

If you tan, put makeup on, smile and do your hair as well as swap meals for shakes and avoid food for a period of time then yes you will lose weight and yes your 'after' picture will look pretty sweet.

But you will not sustain it, it’s virtually impossible to stick to a rigid plan, a strict diet or a system for your entire life.

We can’t deal with the amount of people out there promoting their before and after that don't look like their ‘afters’!

Ladies, please don’t be tricked.

Please forget about the quick transformations and focus on eating real food, keep your stress levels low, get quality sleep and move that body every day - because you LOVE it not because you hate it.

When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, losing weight, lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, increasing your fitness etc. There are no quick fixes that work. You know that saying there are no shortcuts to a place worth going? It is so incredibly true.

Consistently making a commitment to move your body, choose nourishing food options, hard work and determination is the only secret.

Remember that 90% of those transformational pictures are BS and come a few weeks or maybe months time they will be back to the start line.

We'll never post a transformational picture for the above reasons but also for the fact that health and happiness is SO much more than the way we look.

Weight loss is not a measure of success, the way that we feel and the energy that we carry each day is a measure of success and with healthy real food, daily movement and a little self belief it's possible to feel absolutely fantastic every single day!
