Member spotlight: Alana Swain on She Moves, motherhood & exercise
Our members do incredible things and we want to share them with you! She Moves trainer Nic sat down with long time member Alana to talk all things She Moves, mum life and food! Grab a cuppa and be ready to feel inspired by this incredible working mum of three little ones. Enjoy!
What attracted you to She Moves and how long have you been a member?
I am an OG She Moves member and have been here since the Real Health NZ days! When I first became a mum I realised just how hard it can be to leave the house, my partner did long commutes for work and I was in the thick of mum life so there were some long days and long nights! Having something little like a She Moves workout I could put into my day consistently was my saving grace and gave me some sanity! Exercise became a non negotiable in my day for both my mental and physical well being.
What is your favourite She Moves workout and why?
I am slowly returning back to exercise after having our third baby and have been loving the She Restores classes, after a month of consistently doing these classes I feel like the bones of strength from the inside out are starting to come back. I am also a big She Tones Low Impact fan and cannot wait to get back into these workouts when I feel my body is ready.
As well as being a member you’ve also worked with She Move’s trainers 1-1 how did you find this and what did you get out of it?
The Postpartum Plan was so helpful to orient myself coming back into exercise Postpartum for the third time. I have a tendency to want to rush back into things, and I knew that with three little kids, a business to run and life in general I would rather do it slow and well focusing on those foundations of strength from the inside out and shifting the focus from what exercise will make me look like to how exercise makes me feel, for me it is more important to be able to run around and play with my children than to fit into a certain size pants!
How do you fit in your exercise as a busy mum of 3 young kids?
My focus has been on movement whether that's lying on the floor next to my daughter doing my pelvic floor exercises, walking the dog or doing a She Moves workout
I look back across my week and see what movement I have done and then see how I can maybe change my week to fit in more workouts, how can I prioritise more time for me
I get my workouts in when my daughter goes down for her first nap of the day, I leave the emails, housework and piles of washing and then once my workout is done I attack the rest of the day, you have to prioritise yourself in your day
What is one thing you have leant while being a member of She Moves?
Just move your body consistently! I recommend She Moves to everyone! I love that I can do the workouts in my PJs no one can see me!
How cool is this? Nic absolutely loved chatting with Alana and hearing more about how She Moves works for her. Nic left the conversation feeling inspired and so proud of the incredible community She Moves is!
