Supporting Jen’s Growth Through Movement: My Tips for 2025
As mums, we’re constantly evolving - both in our roles as parents, and in our personal fitness journeys. For me, the idea of "growth" in exercise doesn’t mean pushing myself to extremes, but rather, finding ways to move forward at a pace that suits me and nurtures my body. Whether it's getting stronger, more flexible, or simply making time to move, growth is about progress, not perfection.
For me, growing means continuing to build strength and confidence in my body. It’s about running pain-free and staying consistent with strength training, especially because strength supports not just my fitness, but my overall well-being. Strength training has been a game-changer for me, helping to balance my hormones, support my prolapse, and keep my body feeling strong and energised.
Here’s some tips on how to shape things up for 2025 - because who says you can't get stronger and still enjoy your coffee break, right!?
I’m focussing on Small, Achievable Growth Goals
Rather than setting overwhelming goals, I’m planning to break them down into small, achievable steps. For you, this might mean aiming for 15 minutes of movement a few times a week or gradually increasing the amount of water you drink. With motherhood’s unpredictability, growth isn’t always about big leaps; it’s about steady, manageable progress. Keep your goals realistic for where you are right now, and celebrate every small win along the way. Each step forward is growth!
Celebrate Every Milestone, Big or Small
Growth can feel slow, especially when juggling family life, but every step counts. Whether it’s your first full week of consistent movement or noticing you can hold a plank for a little longer, those are moments worth celebrating. Growth in fitness doesn’t always look like huge changes, but rather small wins - whether it’s sneaking in a workout during a busy day or lifting a little heavier than before. Acknowledge those moments! They all add up to meaningful growth over time.
Involve the Whole Family in Your Growth
Growth in fitness doesn’t have to happen alone. Involve your family in your movement routine! Play active games with the kids, go for family walks, or have a dance party in the living room - my fav! By making movement part of family life, you’re not only setting an example of growth for your children, but you’re also creating fun memories together. It’s a beautiful way to grow in fitness as a family, without feeling like you’re sacrificing time with your loved ones.
Growth is definitely a journey, not a destination. In 2025, let’s embrace the idea that growth is about the small, consistent steps we take. Whether it’s improving strength, increasing flexibility, or simply making movement part of our day, growth is personal and unique to each of us. It’s about progress, not perfection.
So, mama, celebrate every step, involve your family, and remember: you’re growing beautifully, one movement at a time.
