Turning a Setback into a Comeback - My Commitment to Movement in 2025
In mid 2024, everything came to a halt when I injured my ankle. It wasn’t just a sprain - it was the kind of injury that sidelined me for a good period of time, forcing me to stop, rethink my routines, and face the reality that recovery would be a long, slow process. At first, I couldn’t even walk without pain, let alone imagine exercising again.
The hardest part wasn’t just the physical pain, it was the mental battle. Movement has always been my outlet, my way of feeling free and strong. Losing that part of my life felt like losing a piece of myself. The weeks turned into months of careful rehab - stretching, strengthening, and doing the same small exercises over and over. Progress felt slow, and there were days when it felt too tough.
But here’s the thing about setbacks - I’d like to think that they teach us patience and resilience, even when it feels impossible. Little by little, I started to rebuild. Slowly, my confidence began to return. It wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t, but every small step forward has reminded me of how far I’ve come.
My Personal Movement Goal for 2025
Now, as I look toward 2025, I’m setting a goal that once felt out of reach: to run another marathon. This time, it’s about more than just crossing the finish line. It’s about proving to myself that I’m stronger than the challenges I’ve faced. My mantra for this journey is simple: move with purpose. I’m taking it one step at a time, listening to my body, and embracing the process.
If you’ve ever faced a setback - whether it’s an injury, a loss, or a moment where life forced you to pause - I hope my story inspires you to keep moving forward. Progress isn’t always fast, but it’s always worth it. Let’s make 2025 a year of movement and new possibilities.
Making Movement a Priority in 2025
As a busy person, I totally get how movement can take a back seat, but in 2025, I’m making it a priority - you should join me! I know how easy it is for the day to slip away and for fitness to fall off the to-do list. It’s not always easy, but I know that getting done, hopefully nice and early, means I don’t have to think about it again, and I’ll be in the best frame of mind for the rest of the day.
How I Stay Motivated to Move on Tired Days
On those days when I feel totally exhausted, I remind myself why movement is so important. It gives me energy, helps me show up better for my loved ones, and it’s a form of self-care. Plus, I know I’ll always feel so much better afterward. The workout might feel hard before I start, but I never regret it once I’ve finished.
Tips for Lovely Mummas Who Want to Move
As mums, it's easy to feel like you don’t have enough time to move, but the truth is, you don’t need to carve out extra time in our already packed schedules. Instead, try learning to weave movement into the small moments of your day. If you’re waiting for the kids at an appointment or sports, take a brisk walk. If you’re parked up for a meeting, I park at the far end of the lot. These little changes, done consistently, really add up!
Also, remember that something is always better than nothing. You don’t need to spend hours working out to see results. A quick 10-minute walk or a 30-minute workout a couple of times a week can make a huge difference. It’s all about finding consistency and fitting it in wherever you can.
So lovely mumma, take the pressure off yourself and embrace those small moments of movement throughout your day. Every step counts!
In 2025, I’m prioritising movement, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. Here’s to a year of feeling stronger, healthier, and more energized!
