Tips for staying consistent with your exercise!

Consistency is key when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. Whether you're trying to lose weight, build muscle, or just improve your overall health, sticking to a regular exercise routine is absolutely essential.

However, we know that staying consistent with your workouts can be a challenge, especially if you're busy with work, little ones, broken sleep or other obligations. In this blog, we'll share some tips to help you stay consistent with exercise, they are not rocket science but they really do make a difference.

  1. Set Realistic Goals

It's important to set realistic goals that you can achieve. Don't bite off more than you can chew and try to do too much too soon. Start with small, achievable goals, and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts as you get stronger and fitter. Setting realistic goals will help you stay motivated and avoid burnout.

If you are just starting your exercise journey our She Moves recommendations would be:

  • She Starts - Beginner workout. No getting up and down off the ground, no jumping - designed to make everyone feel a sense of achievement. If this class seems a bit too easy? Try She Tones!

  • She Tones - Low Impact. A low impact strength workout with loads of options to progress and regress movements (A community favourite)

  • She Flows - Stretch. A full body stretch designed to ease sore muscles and make the body feel good.

2. Schedule Your Workouts

Make exercise a part of your daily routine by scheduling your workouts in advance. Choose a time of day that works best for you and do your best to stick to it. Treat your workouts like any other appointment or commitment, and don't let other things interfere with it. We know this can be tricky with little ones but planning is key - try your best! Having a back up plan if plan A doesn’t work is also a great option!

3. Find an Exercise Buddy

Having a workout partner can be a great way to stay motivated and accountable. Find someone who shares your fitness goals and schedule regular workout sessions together. We have many She Moves members who do their workouts together from different locations and keep each other accountable! Join a community where you can find social support because it makes a huge difference!

4. Mix It Up!

Doing the same workout routine day after day can get boring and lead to a loss of motivation. Mix up your workouts by trying different classes, changing the intensity or duration of your workouts will also help! Variety is the spice of life, and it can also keep your workouts interesting and challenging. Did you know She Moves have 10 different workout styles available as part of their membership?

5. Keep Track of Your Progress

Keep track of your progress by recording your workouts in a journal or on a fitness app. Seeing your progress over time can be a great motivator and help you stay consistent with your exercise routine.

6. Reward Yourself

Reward yourself for sticking to your exercise routine. Treat yourself to a massage, a new workout outfit, a hot bath, or a healthy meal. Celebrating your accomplishments can help you stay motivated and committed to your fitness goals.

In conclusion, staying consistent with exercise is essential for achieving your fitness goals. By setting realistic goals, scheduling your workouts, finding an exercise buddy, mixing up your workouts, keeping track of your progress, and rewarding yourself, you can stay motivated and committed to your exercise routine.

Remember, consistency is key, so stick with it, and you'll see results.
